Speaking/Communication-Related Sites

Speaking Circles International

This is an organization founded by Lee Glickstein, creator of the SPEAKING CIRCLES© methodology for building speaking confidence. I highly recommend his approach and his book, Be Heard Now.

National Speakers Association (NSA)

A great resource for experts who speak professionally, or want to. NSA is a great place to learn about both the art and the business of professional speaking.

SpeakerNetNews.com

Helpful compilations of ideas gathered from subscribers/contributors who are professional speakers.

Toastmasters International

Worldwide organization to encourage public speaking practice and skill. I have mixed feelings about Toastmasters. Practice is a good thing, but in my opinion, Toastmasters puts too much emphasis on mechanics and not enough on authenticity and connection. The tone and type of support can differ dramatically from one club to another so if you are considering Toastmasters I highly recommend that you shop around for a club in which you will feel supported and not nit-picked to death. If you were uncomfortable with a Toastmasters experience in the past, the SPEAKING CIRCLES© approach mentioned above might be a better fit.

The Quotations Page

Quick source for quotations on a number of topics. They search multiple other quotation sites.

Consultant/Peer Websites

The following are sites of consultants and peers whom I know well and recommend highly.

Maurer & Associates

Website of Rick Maurer, expert in dealing with resistance to change. Rick has great tools and insights on the nature of influence, persuasion and resistance.
